(KRON) -- A 47-year-old man who was involved in a minor car crash in Menlo Park Thursday night got out to exchange information when he was shot by an occupant of the other vehicle, according to police.
The Menlo Park Police Department responded at 8:39 p.m. to multiple reports of a shooting in the area of Bay and Hedge roads. Arriving officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and began rendering aid. The man was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the victim, a San Mateo resident, had three children with him, whose ages range between 8 and 14 years old. None of the children were injured in the incident.
“The suspect vehicle was described as a small white car that fled in an unknown direction and remains outstanding,” Menlo Park PD said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
