Restaurateur and chef Eric Greenspan will extend the hours of his modern Jewish deli, Mish Delicatessen, transforming the space into what is sure to become a weekend nightlife hub.
Mish is already accustomed to serving drinks, ranging from specialty coffees to cocktails and unique non-alcoholic options during the day, but beginning Oct. 22, the La Brea establishment will show off its beverage finesse one step further. Thursday through Sunday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., Mish will become BAR Mitzvah, a cocktail bar extension.

Both men have worked extensively in L.A. and helped to create culinary staples throughout the city. Fournier, the first-ever bar director at Spago Beverly Hills, and Cox, whose talents graced the likes of Bestia and Redbird, crafted a drink menu based on the same cross-cultural influences that Mish is known for during the day.

The rest of the cocktails are just as true to Cox and Fournier’s innovative and unconventional styles, from the Weapon of Choice (an upgraded tequila soda with white chocolate) to Gandalf the White featuring roasted apple shochu, raisin eau de vie, Buzz Button kina, amontillado and “nitro” sage.

Pastrami-wrapped dates, Bagel Dogs in a Blanket and Kreplach Dumplings are among the menu choices, which end in a dessert of Coconut Malabi with sour cherries, orange blossom and pistachio brittle and warm Chocolate Chip Halva Cookies with Matchbook Maillard-spiked milk.

BAR Mitzvah is located at 127 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90036.
