STATEWIDE–Hoosiers and businesses in 30 Indiana counties can apply for low-interest federal disaster loans to help recover from severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flash flooding that occurred June 6-26.

Gov. Mike Braun announced Friday that the U.S. Small Business Administration issued a disaster declaration for the affected areas.

“Indiana has been hit hard this year by severe weather,” Braun said. “I remain committed to fighting for every Hoosier who has been impacted this year and am grateful to our federal partners for providing support to those who are still recovering from June’s severe weather impacts.”

Elkhart, Gibson, Harrison, Jefferson, Lake and Warrick counties are eligible, along with surrounding counties Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Jasper, Jennings, Knox, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Newton, Noble, Pike, Porter, Posey, Ripley, Scott, Spencer, St. Joseph, Switzerland, Vanderburgh and Washington.

The loans can help homeowners and renters repair or replace damaged property, including homes, personal belongings and vehicles. Businesses can apply for loans to repair or replace damaged buildings, equipment, inventory and other property.

Small businesses and certain nonprofit organizations may also qualify for economic injury disaster loans to cover ordinary operating expenses they cannot meet because of the disaster.

The damage must have occurred during the June 6-26 period to qualify under this declaration.

Applications are available through the MySBA Loan Portal. The deadline to apply for physical damage loans is Dec. 8, 2026. The deadline for economic injury loans is July 9, 2027.

The SBA is also accepting applications from eligible survivors of an August 2026 disaster. The deadline for physical damage loans for that disaster is Oct. 25, 2026, and the deadline for economic injury loans is May 24, 2027.
