Cedars-Sinai’s Board of Governors honored The Pitt and the people behind the award-winning medical drama at its Sunset Soirée last night on the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Burbank.

The evening recognized star and executive producer Noah Wyle, executive producer and director John Wells, and creator and showrunner R. Scott Gemmill with the Hollywood Leadership Award. Actress Katherine LaNasa, who also stars in the series, presented the honor.

Wyle shared a personal connection to Cedars-Sinai on the red carpet. “As an Angeleno, I’ve got a lot of ties to Cedars. My first child was born at Cedars,” he said. He also credited the hospital’s staff for helping shape the show. “A lot of our background nurses and experts come from the Cedars staff, so we owe them a debt of gratitude.”

LaNasa praised her colleagues for bringing the series to life and for its commitment to portraying emergency medicine with accuracy and heart. “John creates a culture of respect in which artists can do their best work. Scott protects the show’s vision, truth, and authenticity. And Noah sets the standard for our ensemble with his generosity and humility,” she said.

The event also honored philanthropists Jaime and Andrew Schwartzberg with the Philanthropic Leadership Award. Jaime Schwartzberg spoke about the family’s experience at Cedars-Sinai when their youngest daughter, Kate, faced serious medical complications and was placed in an induced coma.

“We will never forget the extraordinary doctors and nurses at Cedars who cared for Kate and for all of us during that time,” she said.

More than 750 leaders from entertainment, health care, business, finance, law and philanthropy attended. Together, they raised more than $3.1 million for the Board of Governors’ Innovation to Impact campaign, a $60 million initiative supporting early-stage research in children’s health, cancer, neurosciences, autoimmune and metabolic diseases, and aging.

The campaign supports research using single-cell technology to study diseased cells and better understand the causes of complex medical conditions.
